The Dobson Declaration

Dr. James Dobson spoke out this morning on the Laura Ingraham show against John McCain and why he will not, and could not even possibly consider, voting for John McCain.

"I am deeply disappointed the Republican Party seems poised to select a nominee who did not support a Constitutional amendment to protect the institution of marriage, voted for embryonic stem-cell research to kill nascent human beings, opposed tax cuts that ended the marriage penalty, has little regard for freedom of speech, organized the Gang of 14 to preserve filibusters in judicial hearings, and has a legendary temper and often uses foul and obscene language."

Dr. Dobson went on to say that if McCain wins the nomination, this will be the first presidential campaign in his life that he does not participate.

Dr. Dobson's views represent the feeling of most, if not all, true Conservatives in the nation. We are fed up and are no longer willing to "compromise" our values and beliefs. But are we "angry" enough?

I don't think so...sadly, it looks as if we have not yet been pushed far enough to make us want to stand up and be heard. Instead we play the "turn the other cheek game" and we continue to accept "giving in" on the issues because we believe we have no choice. When in fact, if we actually stood by our principals, we would likely find that MORE American's agree with our ideals than not.

What we need is ONE strong candidate who can articulately express our ideals, one who can actually LEAD and not be afraid! Bobby Jindal proves that this is what we are longing for...he not only stuck by his principals he WON easily in Louisiana by doing so!

Unfortunately for us...Ann Coulter seems to me to be the only Conservative with the courage to SPEAK OUT and LOUDLY!!! Maybe we should consider making her our new "leader!"

Hi Danny, welcome to our blog.

I agree that a Democrat in office is very BAD idea...however, I fear that left with McCain, we are going to lose regardless of whether or not Conservatives get out and vote for him or not.

As we witnessed last week, Democrats came out to vote by a 2:1 margin over Republicans...basically there are MORE Democrats than Republicans today...at least more participating.

With that said, it was more important for us to put forth a solid candidate that actually can provide solutions, rather than one who is seen currently as part of the problems.

In addition, when we put a 72 year old man, who's tired, been around too long and who has suffered with medical issues (cancer) already, up against a young, articulate and (in the minds of some) handsome man...Obama...we are, frankly, going to get CRUSHED! Just as we did in 1996 with the nomination of Bob Dole.

Further, by accepting McCain, we are basically saying that we are willing to give up our platform and principals for the "sake of the win"...that is not ever going to get us anywhere and what do you think that is teaching your children?

Are you willing to accept a man who condones embryonic stem cell research? A candidate who does not believe that Roe v. Wade should be overturned? A candidate who, although claims he will strong in the war on terror, wants to close Gitmo and give the terrorists held their a "right" to a fair trial? A candidate that wants to allow our military men and women to be tried by an international court when accusations of war crimes occur? A candidate that has fallen hook line and sinker for the farse of global warming? Etc., etc.

You say you are concerned about your children and their future...well then I would be sure to get out and vote for a candidate who stands up for traditional values, not one who cowers to the demands of the liberals you so rightfully fear.

Vote for one who is committed to expanding Conservative values...not one who is concerned soley with "compromise". One who we can actually feel confident in, not one in which we have to constantly guess what his actions will be.

Vote for one who has integrity and will the example we can all be proud of, not one we have to "settle" for...cause again, what will that teach your children?
